aws JumpStart: Start-up-Initiative for Incubators
Every year the Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws) and their JumpStart Programme supports five incubators. These incubators receive up to 150,000 Euro from the state’s business development bank, in order to cover their human resource, material, travel, and training- costs.
In 2016, Ashoka was selected as one of the incubators that were supported by the JumpStart-Program.
Ashoka workshop with Alexander Kesselring and Michael Hagelmüller (director of the accelerator).
The goal of the incubator: social entrepreneurs are regularly invited to different topic-specific sessions such as, ‘People who have fled’, ‘People with Disabilities’, or ‘Education & Youth’. Entrepreneurs, who have a completed product or service, can join for six to seven months and attend the programme for a small fee. In addition to mentoring and workshops, they receive access to businesses, funding opportunities, foundations, investors, and media channels. Furthermore, participants have the chance to be part of other Ashoka programmes, like the Visionary Programme, for instance. Workshop participants gain access to a huge support network including Business Angels Hansi Hansmann and Michael Altrichter.
